Foundational Graduate
Certificate in Gerontology
and Geriatric Care


The Foundational Graduate Certificate is a seven credit disciplinary program designed to enhance the disciplinary competence of those in health care professions such as medicine, nursing, public health, social work & pharmacy. All courses can be applied toward the 15 unit Graduate Certificate (Option 2).

Certificate Requirements: 7 units (3 courses)

Eligibility:  For all Gerontology Certificates the student needs to apply and be admitted to the Graduate Program in Gerontology. Per Graduate College requirements, the student must have a bachelor degree from an accredited university, and maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA, based on the last 60 credits.







Graduate Certificate In Gerontology


The Graduate Certificate in Gerontology is a multidisciplinary and cross-professional course of study designed to supplement an undergraduate or graduate degree. This option is for those preparing for a new or second career in an aging-related field and for those who seek knowledge of aging to apply to their own specialized discipline, profession, or area of interest.

Certificate Requirements: 15 units (5 courses)

PhD Minor


The Doctoral Minor in Gerontology requires 12 units of course work. It is particularly appropriate for students in public health, nursing, anthropology, education, psychology, health, nutrition, and other disciplines in the Social and Behavioral Sciences.
